>Who Says Skiing Is Over for the Season?

Who says a fella can’t go looking for ski turns just because we are a week away from the summer solstice!
I headed up Little Elk Creek, north of Palisades Res., and low and behold…snow and lots of it, starting at about 8,000′! I only skied about a 1,000′ vert for two reasons…storm clouds started brewing over the peaks but more important for my health and well-being…my wife was waiting at the car and I didn’t want to push my luck. But as you can see, I could have easily skied from the summit of Baird for 2,000 vertical in mid-June!!!
This makes for 32 months of local skiing for me!

  1. >I'm still waiting for spring skiing! And, I was waiting for another of your late season reports. Nice Work!! Still lots of North facing snow in the LRR!

  2. >nice job indeed! Truly a "snooze you lose" moment. I am surprised at the snow conditions… I thought it was a rock climbing day for sure.
